Architectural Traction in Masterplanning

Swedish architectural firm Jagnefalt Milton  has made a curious proposal called RollingMasterplan for the Norwegian city of Andalsnes.
First place went elsewhere, but the innovative rolling concept took a very respectable third. The proposal enables the buildings of the city to be reorganised through the seasons, responding to the changing advantages of various locations.
They even included a rolling concert hall, which would enable the civic focus of the town to be moved along esisting and new rail roads. Also part of the proposal included a hotel, potentially allowing you to go to bed with a view of hills and wake up with a view of water. The concept allows us to reevaluate the meaning of place and urban design.
According to Carl Jägnefält (one of the founders of Jägnefält Milton): “We are really happy that the jury took our proposal serious, its not only a good proposal which we are very proud of, it´s also fully doable,”
